Surrender

This is a popular topic of which many great books have been written.  There is a reason.  Surrender is a powerful and beautiful thing.  When you tell the Lord, not my will but Thy will be done (fiat voluntas tua) and mean it, you can trust that God will shower you with abundant graces.

True surrendering is not a one and done event.  As humans, it’s quite easy to revert back to our ways of trying to control and accomplish everything on our own. Every morning we need to give God the day.  It’s good to have plans and goals, but be open to whatever the Lord sends your way.  Often our interruptions are perhaps what God truly wants us to be doing in that moment. As St. Giana Molla said, “Live holy the present moment.”

Challenges and decisions are beautiful opportunities to grow in faith. Life can be frustrating, disappointing, and full of hard-to-understand circumstances. That all changes when we truly surrender to God. Horrible situations do not suddenly come with explanations, but the sadness or disappointment will be lightened by the amazing gift of peace in knowing that God can use anything for good and His ways are greater than our understanding.  Constant surrender is a path to God’s amazing grace.
